Executive Summary

Internal Communications

A proposed new function at RCA Records that would serve as the central hub for information flow across all departments — eliminating silos, reducing friction, and ensuring every team is informed, aligned, and celebrated.

What

Internal Communications is a service function that centralizes information flow, automates routine communications, and provides real-time visibility into all release campaigns. It operates as the "6th Pillar" alongside Release Planning, Artist Management, Budget Tracking, Clearance Tracking, and Streaming/DSP.

How

Using Airtable as the operational backbone, integrated with Microsoft Teams, Outlook, and DISCO, the function streamlines updates, automates communications, and provides complete visibility — all while requiring minimal input from departments (a 1-minute form).

Why

To eliminate information silos, reduce operational friction, and create a culture where great work is visible, wins are celebrated, and every team has what they need to succeed. This role exists to make everyone's job easier — not to add oversight or bureaucracy.

Internal Communications

A new function dedicated to connecting, informing, and celebrating every team at RCA Records.

Our Mission

Mission Statement

To eliminate information silos, reduce operational friction, and create a culture where every team is informed, aligned, and celebrated.

RCA is filled with exceptional people doing exceptional work. As the company has evolved and the pace has accelerated, it's become harder for that work to be visible across teams — and harder for everyone to have the context they need to do their best.

People want to be seen. They want to be trusted to do their job. They want clarity on who owns what — without losing the collaboration that makes great work possible. They want to know that whether their project is big or small, the effort matters and won't go unnoticed.

Internal Communications exists to make that real: ensuring great work is recognized, roles and responsibilities are clear, information flows freely, and every team — new and tenured alike — has what they need to thrive.

What This Role Is

A Service Function

We exist to make every department's job easier — not to add work, oversight, or bureaucracy.

A Neutral Hub

We serve the entire organization, not one leader or department. Our credibility depends on being trusted by everyone.

An Amplifier

When great work happens, we make sure the whole company sees it. We celebrate wins big and small.

A Bridge

We connect teams, clarify ownership, and ensure information flows to the people who need it.

How We'll Measure Success

A draft weighted scorecard for leadership review. These metrics are starting points for conversation — the final framework should be defined collaboratively.

Aligned with Sony's Values

Sony's corporate values emphasize "disciplined business practices" and "synergies between businesses." This scorecard reflects those principles by measuring both operational efficiency and cross-department collaboration — the connective tissue that enables teams to "share knowledge and activities beyond boundaries."

Weight Distribution

Info Flow (30%)
Satisfaction (25%)
Time Savings (25%)
Adoption (20%)

"By asking people to define how you're going to measure success, you inherently force them to talk about the kinds of things that look like wins."

This framework is a starting point for conversation, not a final answer.

Key Takeaways

Why This Matters

🏆

Celebrated Wins

Great work gets recognized, no matter how big or small the project

The Bottom Line

Internal Communications isn't about adding another layer of process. It's about removing barriers, connecting people, and making sure great work doesn't go unnoticed. When everyone has the information they need, everyone wins.
